Visiting San Francisco was like a dream come true. I always wanted to visit this place not because I heard the name in a lot of Bollywood movies but because I studied a lot about this city, its culture, nature and beauty. But will it fulfill my expectations as I imagined? Let's find out !
Few years ago, I lived & worked in the US for over a year. Almost twice every month I used to travel in US. This was my second trip and I was travelling to San Francisco. My childhood friend used to stay in near San Francisco, I gave him a call about coming to visit and it was all set. I stayed at his place and travelling around was easy. I landed on a Friday night and we were all set to explore San Francisco.
Day 1
Our plan was to take a full tour of San Francisco and cover the must-visit places. Our 1st stop was the Twin Peaks. It took around 1 hour drive from Santa Clara to reach the Twin Peaks. Its is kind of an uphill not too high but a bit steep. We had to be careful not to slip through the small stones while going uphill and downhill. This is the place from where you can see the whole of San Francisco city, even the Golden Gate. It looks so beautiful from the top, a very mesmerizing view indeed. We clicked a lot of photos, the weather was extremely good with the bright sunny.
NOTE - First timers will love it and it is a good picnic spot too. But it is better to go during spring/summer since the weather is really nice otherwise it would be foggy. This is the place where a movie scene was shot for the Bollywood Film ''My Name Is Khan''.
It was a 15 mins drive from the Twin peaks to the Golden Gate Bridge. This is the most prestigious and very old bridge. San Francisco is very significant to Golden Gate Bridge. It was a dream for me to visit the Golden Gate. I was mesmerised and awestruck. We took a lot of photos and videos at Golden Gate. Oh what a view ! Ecstatic, Marvelous, I was out of expressions when I touched the bridge and walked over the bridge. It is a must visit spot for anyone visiting San Francisco for the first time.
The next stop was Ghirardelli Marketplace - one of the World's most famous chocolate Brand. It is a 15-20 minutes drive from the Golden Gate. It is a huge marketplace. You will find a lot of shops for mementos from San Francisco to take back home. I bought few fridge magnets. Ghirardelli Marketplace is very crowded always, specially during the weekends or holidays. We were very hungry, so we went for a the famous ice-creams there. A must try for chocolate and ice cream lovers. We spent our afternoon here. It is like a chocolate paradise.
We roamed around Pier 39 which is a 7-8 minutes walk down from Ghirardelli Marketplace. it which is also popular as the Fisherman's Wharf Of San Francisco. It is also known for its tons of Seafood options. It is also a place with street music and dance. We also saw a Madame Tussaud's Museum & clicked pictures with Leonardo DiCaprio too. We spent our evening here. We also saw the famous SFO Cable Car too.
DAY 2
We had a relaxed day at the Santa Cruz Beach. We had lunch & headed towards the beach, the weather was so warm and bright. I was chilling and glancing at the Pacific Ocean and give my feet some good soothing sand and the ocean water touch. The feeling was amazing. Then we sat down at the beach for a while till around early afternoon.
We went to an interesting place called The Mystery Spot, a 30-min drive from the beach. The Mystery Spot is a gravity, a tilt-induced visual illusion. The illusion experienced by visitors results from the oddly tilted environment as well as standing on a tilted floor. Inside the tilted room of the Mystery Spot, mis-perceptions of the height and orientation of objects occur. I found this place quite interesting. It was quite dizzy when we were tilted at some angular position. We had a lot of fun.
On our way back I met another old friend in San Jose. We took a walk around the university and downtown.

So overall, I had an awesome journey in my 2-day stay in San Francisco. It is a lovely place. The roads in San Francisco goes uphill and downhill, which is makes it very interesting and unique from any other city. It will be one of my most memorable cities.
Overall I can conclude that San Francisco is all worth the hype for me !
Apart from the spots I visited, there are few more very important places to visit, if you are in San Francisco for a 7-10 day trip. To name a few - Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Silicon Valley Tech Tour, Alcatraz Island, Walt Disney Museum & much more. You can also take a private tour of San Francisco.
